|Objective & Approach|
|The objective of the Walden Mid Cap strategy is to outperform the Russell Midcap Index with less risk over a full market cycle. Walden strives to achieve long-term capital appreciation through a portfolio of higher quality medium-sized companies. Investments are diversified across a wide range of industries, with allocations varying over time based on relative valuations and economic expectations.
The long‐term sustainability of a business is also connected, in part, to its treatment of customers, workers, communities, and the natural environment. Hence, in addition to traditional financial analysis, Walden evaluates companies on their environmental, social and corporate governance (ESG) performance. We evaluate practices relative to peers, improvement over time, management systems, and accountability through public reporting and responsiveness to shareholders.
Walden advocates for improvements in portfolio company ESG practices through dialogues, meetings and shareholder resolutions. Walden’s ESG engagement activities focus on areas that help better position companies in a competitive marketplace.
