R.R. Donnelley to Share Data

Published, November 1999

R.R. Donnelley & Sons has finally agreed, after numerous requests from USTC, to share its equal employment opportunity (EEO) data.

In an early September meeting in our office with Ron Eidell, Donnelley’s Treasurer and Senior Vice President of Investor Relations, we urged the printing firm to complete our EEO questionnaire. We also pressed Mr. Eidell for information regarding the recent settlement of a race bias suit at the company’s Dwight, IL operation. Agreeing to a more cooperative stance on disclosure, Mr. Eidell said he would send further information upon his return to Chicago.

We also took the opportunity to question Mr. Eidell about Donnelley’s controversial performance in the environmental area. He updated us on the company’s recent efforts to reduce toxic emissions, an area of continuous improvement.
